Heart Six ranch enjoys a unique location in one of the great federal lands of the United States: Teton National Forest, the northern part of the Bridger-Teton National Forest of western Wyoming. Combined, the Bridger and Teton National Forests encompass 3.4 million-acres which include the Gros Ventre, Bridger and Teton Wildernesses. It is a place of dramatic and diverse landscapes. Around the ranch, you’ll see snow-capped mountains and broad grassy valleys.

With over 2,000 miles of trails, the Bridger-Teton National Forest is a favorite for fans of the Great Outdoors. At the Heart Six Wyoming Dude Ranch, you can hike, bike or horseback ride among forests of pine, aspen and spruce trees. Our trail rides, such as our recent weeklong ride through the Bridger-Teton Wilderness allow guests to experience the raw natural beauty of our region.

You can see abundant wildlife in the Bridger-Teton National Forest. Immediately around Heart Six, keep an eye out for bison, marmots, elk and more animals, including rare and endangered species. At night, listen for the cries of coyote and owls. Bridger-Teton National Forest is also home to about 355 species of birds, making this area a birdwatcher’s delight. Elegant sandhill cranes, bald eagles, hawks and swans are among the many birds to be seen.

In our part of the Bridger-Teton National Forest, we have access to sections of the Buffalo River, Pacific River and Snake River. Fly-fishermen flock to this area to catch rainbow, brown and brook trout. Even if you aren’t fishing, the streams and rivers of Bridger-Teton National Forest are beautiful to behold as you stroll or relax at the water’s edge.
